There's a lot about PPWeb that isn't documented. I'm happy to help with any PPWeb related questions or issues.

Re: Questions
Posted by Steve on Monday, 22-Apr-2013

I have started to set this up on an NSA-325.

I have gone for Lighttpd again as it performed so well on my linkstation ls-xhl.

Lighttpd is up and running but when attempt to start nzbget from the ppweb page I get the standard

Possible reasons include:
NZBGet-Server is not running (start);
IP/Port-settings are incorrect. Check config;
Firewall is not properly configured (if nzbget-server and web-interface run on different computer).

Error-message reported by OS: Connection refused (111)

the config is set up the same way as my other NAS device. The only difference is that I am using a testing version of nzbget v 10 and i have noticed that the update script picks this up as a version < than 0.8 as it only seems to see the second digit before the decimal point:

Checking NZBGet executable
Nzbget binary OK - v0 r607
Version is < 0.8.0, using nzbgetweb/old_status.php

Let me know your thoughts on this.

Cheers

Steve

Re: Questions

Steve,

Yes, hugbug changed the versioning (0.8 > 9.0) and a few other things, so the configure/update script needs to know what version you're running. I fixed the version auto-detection issue, but neglected to release an update before getting involved in a menu redo. I'll try to get an update out ASAP (probably late Tues). I haven't tested NZBGet since r567, so there could be other issues.

...Setting Configure : General : NzbgetRev to 607 (save changes) and running (u)pdate should work (without my posting an update).

Thanks Dave. Let me know when you get it up and I'll run an update.

Also having an issue displaying the nzbrus page. Set everything to match my old setup but just get a blank page. Pretty sure I have all the packages I need installed including LWP::Protocol::https which you mentioned is needed for nzbrus on the perl modules page...

Also because it forces me to use the old_status.php

Version is < 0.8.0, using nzbgetweb/old_status.php

it keeps complaining about options which are no longer used and the time (Warning: date(): It is not safe to rely on the system's timezone settings). Only error I am seeing in the update screen is the following:

Experimental script execution test ERROR:
Can't locate HTTP/Request.pm in @INC (@INC contains: /ffp/lib/perl5/site_perl/5.14.2/arm-linux-thread-multi-64int /ffp/lib/perl5/site_perl/5.14.2 /ffp/lib/perl5/vendor_perl/5.14.2/arm-linux-thread-multi-64int /ffp/lib/perl5/vendor_perl/5.14.2 /ffp/lib/perl5/5.14.2/arm-linux-thread-multi-64int /ffp/lib/perl5/5.14.2 .) at /ffp/lib/perl5/site_perl/5.14.2/LWP/UserAgent.pm line 10.

Any ideas?

"it keeps complaining about options which are no longer used and the time (Warning: date()"

Never seen the later, are these complaints from Nzbget?
... With r606 I got one error at startup: Option "RetryOnCrcError" is obsolete, ignored... that is now fixed with the addition of a v10 configuration template for the auto conf/update script (r171).

"Can't locate HTTP/Request.pm"

That is an error that needs to be fixed. HTTP::Request is supposed to be provided by libwww-perl. I did find a bug report of it missing in the Arch package ([link]). I don't know if that applies to your distro, or if you can install HTTP::Request separately to fix it. Did you use a package manager or CPAN to install the Perl modules?

...Probably something else broken, but I've released r170.

Re: Adding Newznab Sites

I added Pwnzb (r165) before I realized it's totally useless for free users (no API/RSS). You'll have to let me know if its not fully functional.

FindNzbs is now paid only and Nzbs2Go is unreachable. I'd rather add sites that offer at least limited API/RSS to free users, e.g. nzbtv.net and nzbzombie.com look like possibilities.

...Why do you need more than one newznab site?

Re: Adding Newznab Sites
Posted by Steve on Wednesday, 20-Mar-2013

I am VIP on NZBrus which is pretty good but sometimes I can't find what I need or itís broken and I need to go to one of the free sites and manually add the nzb.

So it's really just as a backup.

In the next month I'm going to do a new install of ppweb on a Zyxel NSA 325.

I will keep notes as I go and post a guide for installation if I get a chance.

One feature which I think you had in the past was the ability to add an nzb by pasting a link in.

If I am searching for something which is very old only so many results will show on the search page and so what I am looking for will not appear. However there aren't many occasions where this is a problem therefore instead of increasing the number of results that are returned it would be easier for me to copy the nzb link and paste it into ppweb.

Also is it possible to add the main categories as a search condition e.g. Movies-ALL, TV-ALL?

Sometimes I find myself jumping between the main nzbrus site and ppweb to determine what category a specific file is in. I know it is in TV but it might only be available in the SD category for example.
Nzbrus seem to have a restriction now on IP access to prevent sharing of VIP accounts. So adding the main categories will mean this will not be as much of a problem.

Let me know what you think.

Do you still have that Nzbs.org invite for posting a how-to guide?

Cheers

Steve

Re: Adding Newznab Sites
Posted by Dave on Wednesday, 20-Mar-2013

"ability to add an nzb by pasting a link in"

You can do this w/ the new nzbget webui ([link]). You can also use the SAB links on Newznab sites to push nzbs to PPWeb (bottom of Configure:Newznab).

"Also is it possible to add the main categories as a search condition e.g. Movies-ALL, TV-ALL?"

Added Nzbsrus parent category search options in r166 (other sites already had it).

"Sometimes I find myself jumping between the main nzbrus site and ppweb to determine what category a specific file is in."

I'm not sure why (heck, I don't know why you need to visit the Nzbsrus site at all), you must be using the 'all categories' Nzbsrus search option because Nzbsrus browse pages are single categories. If you did searches in the same way (desired category followed by others as needed), you'd have matching search results pages, one for each category (easily accessible from the side menu). Movies-ALL and TV-ALL won't help with this and making Nzbsrus look/work like Newznab sites (1-all cats w/ cat: info) is a task I cannot consider at this point.

It appears my Nzbsorg invites were revoked.

...Nzbsrus won't be getting search result pagination, but Newznab sites now have it (r167). I also added Nzbtv (API/RSS requests limited to 50/day w/ free account) to supported Newznab sites (r168).

NzbsRus Login
Posted by Steve on Wednesday, 12-Dec-2012

Having trouble using the NzbsRus link. I have all the settings enabled and my username and password work on the NzbsRus website but when I click the link through PPweb I get:

"NzbsRus login failed"

I have VIP account so I have "free" option set to NO.

Any ideas why this isn't working?

Re: NzbsRus Login

I just deleted all my nzbsrus files and site update/cookie file creation w/ paid account worked fine. Do you have a Nzbsrus_cookies.lwp file in /data? Did you try deleting it and retying? I don't think it affects login, but are you using the 'list view' on the nzbsrus site?... Are there any special characters is your login? I don't think it's an issue, but I can check if you do.

Re: NzbsRus Login

I added all categories and I can now access the page itself but I'm still getting the failed login message. I tried the update and delete links but no change. I will ty deleting the _cookies.Lwp and see if that does it, but to answer your question the username and password are both just lowercase plain text no strange characters.

Re: NzbsRus Login
Posted by Dave on Wednesday, 12-Dec-2012

For some reason I keep forgetting that NzbsRus requires https for login. The most likely cause is LWP https support. Did you install the Perl Crypt::SSLeay _or_ LWP::Protocol::https module? I use the perl-ssleay pkg, but have tested LWP::Protocol::https (installed via CPAN).

One of the following should return a version number (blank line if not installed)
perl -MCrypt::SSLeay -e 'print "$Crypt::SSLeay::VERSION\n";'
perl -MLWP::Protocol::https -e 'print "$LWP::Protocol::https::VERSION\n";'

Re: NzbMatrix, watch list, upload & logs
Posted by Stephen on Saturday, 01-Dec-2012

I am setting this all up again. Everything looks good and the update page returns everything OK apart from the section which relates to the "which" commands.

However I cannot access any of the following pages:

NzbMatrix, watch list, upload & logs

When I attempt to do so I only see a blank page... I know I had the same problem before in the past and managed to resolve but I have tried everything. I have ensured that the correct permissions to all files under www/ppweb/ppweb are set correctly. I know this could also be related to my web Server (lighttpd) but all the required packages are installed and the configuration is configured as you have outlined in the lighttpd section.

The only issue I can see relates to the "fast-cgi" module. When I uncomment in the conf file it states that "fast-cgi" cannot be loaded twice on start up. Wondering in there is another file that needs to be configured...?

I will double check permissions again as I know this is normally the cause of this behavior but any suggestions would be great.

I can see a file named "10-php-cgi.conf with the following content... would this need to be updated?

server.modules += ( "mod_fastcgi" )

fastcgi.server = ( ".php" =>
                   ( "localhost" =>
                     ( "socket" => "/tmp/php-fcgi.sock",
                      "bin-path" => "/opt/bin/php-fcgi",
                      "max-procs" => 1,
                      "bin-environment" =>
                         ( "PHP_FCGI_CHILDREN" => "2",
                           "PHP_FCGI_MAX_REQUESTS" => "1000" )
                     )
                   )
                )

Many Thanks

Re: NzbMatrix, watch list, upload & logs
Posted by Dave on Saturday, 01-Dec-2012

Steve,

fast-cgi is for NzbgetWeb. The PPWeb scripts use mod_cgi. Make sure server.modules contains "mod_cgi" and that the cgi.assign Perl path is right.

    cgi.assign = (
          ".cgi" => "/your/path/to/perl",
    )

What happens when you run /your/path/to/wfnzb.cgi from a terminal?

I don't know how you could get that error manually and not see it when running the configure/update script (Experimental script execution test). I also don't know how you could get that error without the require...ppweb.pm line 19 totally missing.

Are all your PPWeb files are in /opt/share/www/ppweb and that is the path shown when you run the configure/update script? Is the only thing not "OK" the single "Warning - 'witch --help' test failed..."? Do the hold, download and daemon start/stop links work?

Re: NzbMatrix, watch list, upload & logs
Posted by Steve on Monday, 03-Dec-2012

For some reason line 19 in wfnzb.cgi was commented out. I uncommented and I do not see the issue in the update script at all now. Do not ask me why it was commented out but I think it was related to the behaviour that I am seeing now....

When I now click on nzbmatrix the redirect does not seem to be working. I simply arrive back at the main queue screen and the message "updating NzbMatrix (FN75)" is displayed.

Would you suggest that I just get a fresh copy of the wfnzb.cgi file? Or would this be something with lighttpd?

The link itself looks ok:

[link]

The watch list and upload now works but the NzbMatrix is still having issues as described above as well as the "Logs" link which looks to be a URL issue as it tries to use this:

[link]

instead of

[link]

When I manually correct this in the address bar it works.

The third issue that I am having is the post process. For every single download whether a repair is needed or not the post process fails with the following:

[Sun 18:50] DETAIL All files are OK, par2 repair is not required. - 8.31 min (PC27)
[Sun 18:50] DETAIL Extracting archive (RE01)
[Sun 18:50] ERROR A full par check/repair has already been attempted.

Once again I know I ran in to this before but I have tried every combination of settings for the par/check/repair and there is no change to this behaviour.

The log issue is no big deal but the nzbmatrix functionality and the par/check/repair for me is what sets ppweb apart from anything else. Let me know if you have any ideas.

Thanks again for all your help Dave

Re: NzbMatrix, watch list, upload & logs
Posted by Dave on Monday, 03-Dec-2012

"For some reason line 19 in wfnzb.cgi was commented out."

FWIW, PPWeb could not have done it.

"I have tried every combination of settings for the par/check/repair and there is no change to this behaviour."

I don't know how many times I have to say this. Unless stated otherwise, no changes are needed to the default settings. When folks mess with the defaults, its a lot harder to track down real issues.

Your posted configure script output has no unrar line between the par2 and unzip lines. Your extraction issues could be caused by another missing/commented? Unrar=unrar (Unrar=/path/to/unrar is good insurance) - line 424 in ppweb.conf.

"When I now click on nzbmatrix the redirect does not seem to be working. I simply arrive back at the main queue screen and the message "updating NzbMatrix (FN75)" is displayed."

A couple of things could cause this and it could be the appropriate response. In any case, there should be other associated log messages.

"The watch list and upload now works but the NzbMatrix is still having issues as described above as well as the "Logs" link which looks to be a URL issue"

Is Configure : URL's : HtmlUrl still at the default setting (html)?

Re: NzbMatrix, watch list, upload & logs
Posted by Steve on Tuesday, 04-Dec-2012

I have deleted my /opt/share/www/ppweb/ppweb directory and carried out a fresh svn checkout to /opt/share/www/ppweb/

I haven't changed any files or settings. First thing I did was ran the update script and corrected the path to svn, unrar and par2.

Now the update script returns all OK.

Still when clicking the NzbMatrix link ( after configuring the settings) it returns me to the main queue page with the message "INFO Updating Nzbmatrix (FN75)"

The link to the logs now works without any issue and I will test the par/check/repair process, but I have no idea why the NzbMatrix link will not work correctly.

When I copy the link that it is using it looks correct "<Host>/ppweb/ppweb/cgi-bin/wfnzb.cgi?do=Nzbmatrix_browse"

Could it be related to PHP in some way?

Let me know if there is anything I might have missed.

Cheers

Steve

Ok so tested the par/check/repair after completely clearing and setting up PPWEB again. The extraction completes successfully but the destination folder is deleted along with the pars / rars etc..

if 'Updating Nzbmatrix (FN75)' isn't followed by 'Updating Nzbmatrix [category] (UP01)', the script isn't getting very far. Either there's a problem with the required PPWeb libraries, or you don't have any Nzbmatrix categories enabled. I've added checks for both (r159).

I haven't figured out how to get an Apache like error log from Lighttpd, but enabling $debug (in update.cgi) should provide some useful messages.

Re: NzbMatrix, watch list, upload & logs
Posted by Steve on Wednesday, 05-Dec-2012

All sorted. Thanks for your help Dave.

Corrected the Save directory which is a great new feature going forward.

I got the following when attempting to access the nzbmatrix browse page

ERROR No enabled categories found for Nzbmatrix (USC)

I had tv SD set as my default but I didn't realize that I also needed at least one catagory set as well.

So logs are all working, check/par/repair looks good and browse page is running.

It has been at least a couple of years since I updated this and all the new features are brilliant.

Plus now I have the update script fully working going forward.

Thanks again Dave. When I get some time I'll type up a tutorial for installing on bufallo NAS ls-xhl and get it posted.

Problem with Direct Download
Posted by SuperGills on Tuesday, 22-May-2012

Hi Dave,

I've noticed a problem with the direct download scripting. I have the NZBTrim option set and when I do a direct download to a category it seems to fail as the '.'s that are added to the nzb name are removed when the ppweb scan takes place and it can't seem to find the nzb in the NZBtrim processing.

I get the error :
Couldn't open {pathtofile}.nzb, No such file or directory (110)

which is being generated from line 90 in wfnzb.cgi
&EditNzb ("$path/$title.$ext", $cat); # file, cat

The physical filename of the nzb has the '.'s removed and replaced with spaces, and the $title name has the '.'s included.

Removing the NZBTrim options allowed the new nzb to be picked up, and processed.

It did fail the rename Couldn't rename nzb: {pathtonzb}.nzb > {pathtonzb}.nzb_processed (FN71), but carried on and saved the nzb to processed anyways.

Top drawer job on the updates by the way.

Re: Problem with Direct Download
Posted by SuperGills on Tuesday, 22-May-2012

Hi Dave,

Think the issue is coming from wfnzb.cgi on line 81.

my $new_title = $title;
if ($new_title =~ s![._]! !g){
rename ("$path/$title.$ext", "$path/$new_title.$ext") or &Print (" Couldn't rename nzb, $! (NP04)", 1, 1);
}

This is renaming the file to remove the '.'s and the script still uses the var $title further on, which is why it can't find the file.

I have managed to install perl and the required moduals but on running

sh-3.00# /var/www/html/ppweb/ppweb/cgi-bin/wfnzb.cgi

I get the following error,

No such file or directory at /var/www/html/ppweb/ppweb/lib/ppweb.pm line 10.

Not sure if it matters but i think this should do something and as it is not, i take it something is wrong and need to be fixed before i can carry on.

Anything you can suggest to fix this?

The configuration/update script should set all paths and check all permissions (your error means one or the other is wrong). Does running (u)pdate from the web interface generate any errors? Have you followed the Readme.1st step by step?

Thanks Dave,

Ive gone a lot further and can now see a webpage and us it a little but get errors on nzrsrus about login in.

From NZBget
ERROR NzbsRus login failed

I belive its the LWP::Protocol::https, but not sure as i ran wfnzb.cgi test and it said all was ok. Could i be missing somthing else like a ssl lib or somthing?

Thanks again

Jamie

Jamie,

My bad, I forgot that NzbsRus requires https. I added the workaround for the LWP 6.0 "can't verify hostnames" issue to wfnzb.cgi. If you did an svn install, run (u)pdate to apply the fix.

Hi again Dave,

Thanks for the last fix BTW.

I'm making this for the users of Popcorn Hours and now just about have a working version ready to install, but have a couple of questions if you dont mind.

It looks like the login for nzbmatrix has changed so can no longer connect to get details. can you do anything about it? not sure as it now uses a catch phrase box.

is there any way to keep path settings as when i like the u they get changed from
/share/Apps/NZBget/.nzbget
to
/share/Apps/AppInit/websites/ppweb/ppweb/nzbget

Its not a big issue but would like to (if i can) keep all folders under the default nzbget folder.

Thanks again for you help thus far.

Jamie

Jamie,

Thanks for the heads up on Nzbmatrix, I've posted a fix.

There's currently no easy way to move portions of the PPWeb file tree to alternate locations, SaveDir is the only exception... You can locate the PPWeb tree wherever you want, so long as your web server is setup to accommodate it.
